Chagall: The Art of Dreams (via zoom)
presented by John Paul Thornton
Wednesday, October 26
6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Pacific Time

Jewish artist Marc Chagall painted some of the richest images in history. Only a handful of Jews turned to painting in the early twentieth century, but Chagall’s paintings embrace Russian folk art, playful whimsy, religious celebration, and personal emotion like no other. Join presenter John Paul Thornton as we follow Chagall’s early career in Paris, his proud return back home to Vitebsk, his time as an educator under Communist rule, and his famed contributions to the Yiddish Theater.  The focus will be on Chagall’s paintings and imaginative use of symbols, which speak to us today.
